Our client (a chemical manufacturer) based in the UK, required a replacement for their current R22 based glycol chilling plant.
The project goals were:
- Increased refrigeration capacity
- Improved reliability
- Minimise energy consumption
- Employing a more environmentally friendly refrigerant,
- Minimum amount of capital spend
Working with the customer, we provided a purposed design hire system consisting of 1 off J & E HallScrew compressor complete with shell & tube evaporator and condenser utilising R404a as the refrigerant. To minimise energy consumption, the system incorporated a 160kW Danfoss variable speed drive.
The system was installed over a weekend to minimise disruption, and commissioned within a short period of time.
The project has resulted in all initial goals being achieved, and by having a fixed monthly spend, including all maintenance requirements, the customer is able to budget a lot more accurately.
